Objective: to know the Latin American thought through the four generations that have, so far, been recognized by the main exponents of Latin American Philosophy, to understand the current perspective of thinking and discern its identity and projection in the global context. Methodology: the study is qualitative. The motivational benchmark is the quest for originality and/or authenticity of ideas from the Latin American perspective and its participation in the universal concert. Findings: in Latin America we also wonder about universal matters, but the solutions try to involve elements of the context. In Latin American perspective, philosophy would consist of the application of solutions given by great philosophers to our problems, or the creation of thinking in an original way, but the most important is that the current trend seeks a reflection attached to the social problems. Conclussions: historical, social, and cultural praxis of our Latin American peoples outlines a reflection framework (hermeneutics) critical and methodic that has originated a perspective in Latin American philosophy. The proposed analysis from the understanding of philosophy in Latin American perspective permits to have discussions on philosophy in context.
