THE IMPORTANCE OF CIVIC EDUCATION IN THE UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM

The current paper proposes a reflection aroused from the theoretical approach of the research project called Civic Education based on the education within the diversity from the equity and social justice at the university, developed in three Colombian Universities as well as in two Mexican Universities. The objective of this research is the analysis of the characteristics of the students’ values and interactions in relation with the Civic Education based on the education within the diversity, from the equity and the social justice at the university. In this paper, three techniques are methodologically integrated: documentary revision, result analysis in the application of a questionnaire to106 students of the Universidad Catolica de Oriente –UCO-, and reflections made by the authors of this study. There are not conclusions; however, there are some outlines of a depth study and some other explorations about the topic.
