MATHEMATICS EDUCATION IN THE GUAMBIANA CULTURE

Objective: to identify the main aspects of the Guambiana culture, related to the process of teaching math. Methodology: the research is inscribed in the historic hermeneutic typology with a qualitative approach. Findings: elements of the mathematics teaching in coherence with the Misak people livehood are highlighted. Conclusions: the stories from the Taita and Mama elders, and the comunity leaders, tell about the life experiences related to the world view, the labors done with the mother earth and the construction of mathematical concepts from the daily practices in their contexts.
