COPING STRATEGIES OF THE PROFESSIONALS IN THE HEALTH AND EDUCATION SECTORS, IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE CURRENT CONDITIONS OF PUBLIC MANAGEMENT IN THE SOUTHWEST OF COLOMBIA

Objective: to identify the degree of affectation of the new organizational models on the working environment. Methodology: this research is part of an international macro project “Working in human services under the New Public Management, Meanings, Risks, Coping and Results” in the educational and health services in the Southwest of Colombia. It is a qualitative and quantitative study. Findings: negative effects on the working forms and conditions, which make up working scenarios characterized by stress and its consequent manifestations on the quality of life and the emotional well-being. Conclusions: health and education professionals should use coping strategies, mainly, the search of social support, positive reinterpretation, acceptance, denial, avoidance – escape, emphasizing its use as a regulatory response on stressor events in the model of labor flexibility.

Abstract
