This paper examines the existent literature regarding the learning patterns taking as reference the theoretical constructs containing them: Conceptions of learning derived from the SAL theory (Student Approaches to Learning) and the self-regulation theory. This paper seeks to present its key fundamentals from its historical roots, to the most contemporary perspectives. In the same way, the integration of the shared regulation construct is proposed as a factor to be analyzed within the learning patterns construct.
