Objective: to reveal the poetic work in the processes of artistic creation in educational contexts. Methodology: descriptive and qualitative case of study from the conventional semi-structured interviews to 14 students of Plastic Arts degree program of Caldas University, Bachelor in Visual Arts of Tecnologica University of Pereira and Diploma course in Plastic Arts of Quindío University; central region of Colombia. Findings: the investigation revealed the importance of the artistic training focused on processes of “self-care”, from the mind training of poetic/critical/contextual thought and the emergence of the piece of art by self-care of creators. Conclusions: “the branches of nest” comes into being as a metaphor about the procedures that are involved and appear in the creation of a piece of art in the educative university context, in a self/eco/organized conception of people implicated in the artistic training (teacher – student) and their relationship with natural and social environment.
