Objective: to present the research about the comprehension of the social imaginaries that configures the teachers in training process in the Master’s Degree in Education at the Catholic University of Manizales. Methodology: it was used the complementarity approach proposed by Murcia and Jaramillo (2008), the analysis of discourse from the referential, expressive and pragmatic dimensions, as well as the social imaginaries as a theory of support. The design included three stages: the search of the focal categories, the elaboration of the initial intelligibility scheme, and finally an in-depth fieldwork and the compression mediated by the triangulation of the information. Conclusions: the emergence of new transforming possibilities was recognized, and others that are still anchored in the tradition.
